Josh White National Cattlemen's Beef Association

NCBA's Josh White Says Beef Quality Assurance Produces Better Beef The Beef Quality Assurance has been helping cattle producers go on herds healthy and consumers rubber since the belatedly 1970s. Like any successful program, BQA has evolved with producer and consumer needs, instrumental in contempo successes in re-edifice beef need. Josh White, executive managing director of producer education for the National Cattlemensouth Beef Association, talked with Ron Hays about how BQA is beginning to go the consumer attention it deserves.

It has never been more important to make sure your BQA certification is upwardly to date to you tin be counted in those who are standing up maxim, hey, we are doing the correct thing by our cattle and our land, White said. That message is being carried by (the NBCA) and others in the supply chain, all the mode to consumers.

Recent research shows consumers value BQA standards, not just for the quality they bask when eating beefiness, only that the program is a grassroots effort to keep people, animals and the environs safe.

The program has evolved, White said. We accept evolved the program to more of total direction - annihilation that has to do with beef safety, beef quality or humane care of animals.

Originally, White said BQA was feed-yard focused, working toward implementing basic quality and prophylactic measures similar, moving injection sites from the hip to the front-end and reducing any antibiotic residues found in beef. Today, BQA ties all that and more together, including sustainability practices.

Producers who take the fourth dimension to become BQA certified practice it voluntarily. Through BQA programs, producers recognize the economic value of committing to quality beefiness production at every level - not simply at the feedlot or packing plant, according to the BQA website.
